Two rules of thumb. Above furniture, aim for art about two thirds the width of the piece below it. A sofa loves 70×100 cm or a trio of 30×40s. Building a gallery wall of your places? Keep 5 to 8 cm between frames and mix two or three sizes for rhythm.
