New York is one of the most popular cities in the world – and with good reason! The Big Apple is on most people’s bucket list, and it is definitely one of the places to be experienced at least once in a lifetime.

New York is pulsating with life in all aspects, busy streets and people, beautiful architecture, green nature and exciting attractions. In this city, there is room for everyone and anyone.

Before you begin your adventure towards the big city, it is essential to be covered in the practical aspects. Therefore, we have made a small travel guide to New York with all it has to offer. Sit back, enjoy and get ready to be inspired.

Where to live:

A travel guide would not be much without sorting out the living situation. New York is a massive city, and it is divided into 5 different parts. These are further divided into 59 different districts and hundreds of quarters. Therefore, it can quickly become confusing to figure out the best places to stay as a tourist. Below, you can find our suggestions.

Tip: No matter where you choose to live, it is always a good idea to live close to a metro station – the metro will most likely be your new best friend.

Midtown: Midtown is located in Manhattan, and it is a wonderful place to stay if you want to be in the middle of all the happenings. It is also within walking distance to many big attractions.

Time Square: Another popular place to stay is Times Square. Do note that it is a very busy area, with a lot of people and prices in the higher end of the scale.

Upper West Side: This is a very family friendly area, located a bit further from centrum. It is within walking distance to Central Park, and you will find that prices are in the cheaper end.

Brooklyn: Over the years, Brooklyn has been considered a very up and coming place. The prices are cheaper than in Manhattan, however there are a wide selection of restaurants, galleries, stores etc.

What to experience:

New York is filled with world-known, iconic and remarkable attractions. There are so many places worth mentioning, however we have had to limit ourselves to our absolute favorites:

The Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island: Of course, you cannot visit New York without experiencing the Statue of Liberty – their most famous attraction and landmark. You can catch a boat to see her, and on the trip back you can jump off on Ellis Island – home of the beautiful Immigration Museum.

Central Park: The world-known city park in Manhattan is also a must visit. Locally, it is known as the green lungs of the city, because it is a wonderful place of escapism from the loud roar of the city.

Top of the Rock: Top of the Rock is placed on top of Rockefeller Center in Manhattan. Here, you can enjoy fresh air and spectacular views.

Empire State Building: This building is one of the most iconic buildings in New York, and it is the one of highest buildings in the city too.

Time Square: You have definitely seen thousands of pictures of Times Square, being the pulsating heart of New York. Get ready to be blown away by the big neon lights and amazing atmosphere.

Brooklyn Bridge: Take a long stroll along the Brooklyn Bridge – one of the oldest and most iconic bridges in America. It connects Manhattan and Brooklyn over the East River. The view is just breathtaking as it showcases the Manhattan skyline.

So, now you can go and experience all these places and attractions that New York has to offer for yourself. Remember to enjoy all the new impressions, and take in every minute of it.
